September Stats are in . . .

First the good news . . . The winds were much better this month.

The combined Inverters made a 357KWHs !

Now the not so great news . . .  The wind turbine again used up a lot of power.  Our total wind production was 83KWH.  This is the power left over for our personal use.   We're hoping to do even better next month with the wind stop setting increased.

  1. Are you sure that the 83KW is not just the total amount of power you exported? You should have two factors evident in your generation for the month. A much lower amount of energy coming in from the grid, plus the amount going back out during periods that you are producing more than you are using. I've never heard of a small turbine that could consume this much! Surely the 83KW is the excess for the month, not the total produced.

  2. Yes, the meter has a label on it called "wind production meter". It is the meter that NYSERDA asked me to report on each month. It spins fast in a positive direction on windy days and slowly and steady in a negative direction on non-windy days. You could say I exported that to my house for use or to the grid if I wasn't using that much, but by the end of the month, I use a lot more than 83KWH.

  3. I'm sorry to hear you aren't making much power. If I read this correctly, the unit hit ~1% efficiency after taking the parasitic loss into consideration? 83kwh/7200kwh possible

    Very dissapointing.

I hope the Oct and Nov winds improve things.

  4. A possible 7200kwh? The parasitic loss is disappointing, but the only way we could possibly make 7200KWH in a month would be if the winds blew at 20-25 mph all day and all night for 30 days strait. I don't think that is possible even in the Altamont Pass in California is it?
